Schedule of Events
Friday, August 19th
For anyone who is available, a dinner will be planned at Buca di Beppo at Station Square
Saturday, August 20th
Have breakfast and then join us for a morning of historical perspective and fun!
At 10am
We'll meet with Nick Lane, Pittsburgh Jewish Historian, at the Heinz History Center on the North Side, who will
talk with us about Jewish Pittsburgh in the early 1900's. He is very knowledgeable about his subject and truly
delightful! On display in the HCC is the Wylie Avenue Synagogue founded in 1895 and there are archives that we
can explore. After we meet with Nick, you will have time to tour the rest of the museum, have lunch at the
museum or walk in the Strip District and grab some lunch. Your kids will enjoy the HCC too! (see
pghhistory.org for more info). Nick would love to see any historical photos, documents, etc that we have.
Cost: $8/adult $5/Under 18 years
(includes private room rental & admission to Center)
At 2pm
We will meet at the Fox Chapel Racquet Club where we will have the clubhouse at our disposal. There is also a
beautiful pool and tennis court so bring the appropriate gear (must wear white for tennis)! We'll have a chance
to kibbutz before dinner which will begin at 5:30 pm. After dinner, we'll have some story telling and
activities! (This event is being hosted by the family of Jay Weiner in honor of his 80th birthday).
- Bring your memorabilia for Saturday afternoon and evening!
- Bring pictures, bring albums, make a slide show or a video ...
- Just make sure that things are marked so you don't lose them.
- Let us know ASAP if you need any AV equipment
- Remember ... Lynn, Susie, and Kathy can't do this all by themselves ...
- We need your help to make this a great time!
