Shalom!

This WebSite is dedicated to the memory and hearts of those that came before us. This is the place that tells the stories of the Weiner Mishpoteh and the Shtetel of Schedrin. And where family members and friends can read the history and trace back their origin and family tree.

We need your help! Yes, thats right, we need your help in collecting information to fill in some of the missing gaps.

Information such as: birth dates, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, last names of spouses, things of that nature. The new site allows us to collect and integrate all sorts of information about relatives or those we remember, such as photos, stories, and all kinds of personal information. In order to facilitate the collection we have a genealogical data collection form which you can use to make things a little easier for you here.

A couple of stories have already been collected, and are accessible on this site. The first story, which was received from Jay Epstein back in 1997, was the start of this website, and can be seen here. It was from there that the idea for this site sprang, and why in part it is dedicated not only to the memories of all the Weiners before us, but also to Jay Epstein for his efforts to recount the story as it is best told.

A second story, still being transcribed from the original typed version, was generously recalled by Sarah Eva (Sally) Roth, and can be seen here. This story recounts the early days of Czedrin (Schedrin) Russia, and the trek to Pittsburgh USA, and all the colorful side stories are included in as much detail as Eva could recall.

So PLEASE help us collect the missing information to complete this website. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Weiner and Co. Family Reunion 2005 Schedule of Events Posted
3 August 2005 - 7:50:57pm

Click here to see the schedule of events for the upcoming Weiner and Co. Family Reunion, slated to be held August 19th-21st, 2005, in Station Square, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvannia.
Weiner and Co. Family Reunion 2005
9 July 2005 - 8:10:35am

This is just a quick note to let you know that reunion plans are underway! We are thrilled to hear that each family will have at least one, and in most cases several, if not all, family members coming. For those who said they didn’t think they could come, we’re hoping maybe your plans will change so that you can be there with us.

Thanks to all of you who responded! If you have outstanding paperwork, please get it to Kathy DiBiase ASAP so they can begin working on the booklet to give to everyone.

Susie, Lynn and Kathy have been talking and in general, here is the way the weekend looks to be shaping up:

Friday, August 19th - For those of you who are in town that day, we will make plans for a group dinner at a restaurant near the hotel so we can say “hello.” It looks like the Sheraton, Station Square Pittsburgh will be the hotel we will recommend to those of you who need hotel rooms. We are checking rates but sometimes it is better to book on your own using discounts like AAA or AARP, etc. The number for the Sheraton is: 412.261.2000. Saturday, August 20th - For those who are interested, we are checking out the Just Ducky tours which will leave in the morning from Station Square for a land and river tour of Pittsburgh. We will also offer other ideas for morning activity if you want to do that.

In the afternoon we will head to Fox Chapel to the Racquet Club where there will be outdoor fun (swimming, tennis) and we will also have an indoor room for those who prefer not to be outside. If it is raining that day, and we hope it is not (!), we will have some alternate indoor plans for the early afternoon and then go to the club later for dinner and reunion activity. We would imagine we might finish there between 8-9 pm.

Sunday, August 21 - Have a light breakfast wherever you’re staying and then join us at Station Square for a bus tour of some famous Weiner Pittsburgh stops. After the tour, we will head back to Station Square and meet for one last time for brunch/lunch. We will plan to be done by 2pm.

You will receive a “formal” invitation as soon as we have nailed everything down and we will have locations and prices. Saturday afternoon and evening at the club are in honor of Jay Weiner for his 80th birthday and will be hosted by his family.

PLEASE begin to put together your pictures, memories and anything else that you would like to share so that you can bring it to the reunion. If you will need any AV equipment, (projectors, etc) please let us know so that we can have it at the Racquet Club.

One idea that we had was to create a website for the family where we could house our names and addresses. It could be easily changed if someone moved and we could also put pictures on the site for others to enjoy. If anyone has that capability and would like to put this together, please let me know.

Feel free to e-mail Kathy DiBiase and pass this along to anyone who we may have missed. Kathy does not have e-mails for everyone but she will get in touch with those who are missing from the list and give them this info. If you have e-mails of others who are not on the list, please send them to Kathy.

We hope this gives you enough to go on so that you can begin to make your plans. Let Kathy know if you have other questions.

We are so excited to that so many of you have decided to come for this special weekend! We will try to make it as enjoyable as we can. Overall, we just want time to be with our family and celebrate the descendents of Boruch and Perle.
